Thank you for visiting the YMCA community support page in response to the 7th St. fire.

On April 30 a fire tore through multiple homes on 7th St. in Allentown, displacing nearly 40 residents, destroying most, if not all of their possessions. The American Red Cross has opened a response center to provide victims of the fire food, health services and shelter at the Allentown YMCA, located at 425 15th St.

In collaboration with community partner agencies, and in response to the outpouring of concern and support from the Greater Valley Y community, we have put together a running list of very specific items needed by the individuals and families receiving services and shelter from the Red Cross at the Y.

This list is being updated in real time, and the YMCA is only accepting donations from the list. If you would like to provide anything you see on the list, please call 610-351-9622 prior to making any purchases, to let us know what you plan to bring, and when you plan to drop it off. We will take calls and donations at the Welcome Center of the branch between the hours of 6AM-6PM, Monday through Friday.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. It goes a long way to helping those affected by the fire on the path to recovery.

If you prefer to donate money to those affected by the fire please donate to the 7th Street Fire Fund coordinated by United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Financial Assistance

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At The Y, no child, family or adult is turned away due to an inability to pay.

Financial assistance awards are assessed on a case by case basis during a one-on-one, confidential session with a staff member. Those interested in applying for our financial assistance program are encouraged to download this form in English or download this form in Spanish, or stop in to any of our branches to learn more and pick up an application.
