STRONG SWIMMERS MAKE CONFIDENT KIDS
Adults can learn to swim at the Y too!
No matter your age or ability, you can learn to swim. Our YMCA trained and certified instructors cover swimming skills, stroke technique, and water safety in a friendly and encouraging environment. With small instructor to student ratio, our swim lessons provide personal instruction and safety around water information, while providing a fun atmosphere.
How Y Swim Lessons Work
The YMCA Swim Lesson Curriculum is a core group of aquatic skills every person needs to be safe around water. As the foundation of our program, these skills allow students to learn correct swim stroke techniques. Students begin with and build upon skills they are ready to learn, helping them to celebrate their successes, build self-confidence, and enjoy learning to swim and water safety.
At the Y, the lessons we offer are:
• Parent & Child Lessons for ages 6 months to 3 years (Stages A-B)
• Preschool Lessons for ages 3-5 (Stages 1-4)
• School Age Lessons for ages 5-12 (Stages 1-6)
• Teen and Adult Lessons for ages 12 and older (Stages 1-6)
We offer these lessons in private (1 person), semi-private (2-3 people), or group lessons. Unsure what lesson type or stage is best for you or your child? Check out the Y Lesson Selector for more information.

Households across our community have different needs so we offer a variety of membership types. Each of our locations offer many different programs, schedules, and classes therefore offerings and fees may vary by branch.
Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At The Y, no child, family or adult is turned away due to an inability to pay.
Financial assistance awards are assessed on a case by case basis during a one-on-one, confidential session with a staff member. Those interested in applying for our financial assistance program are encouraged to download this form in English or download this form in Spanish, or stop in to any of our branches to learn more and pick up an application.
