Stories to inspire you!

In 2014, Lois suffered an evolving stroke that debilitated usage of her dominant side. But after 16 months of rehabilitation learning how to complete every day tasks and focusing on her new normal, Lois was ready to reconnect with the world— “I wanted more” she states. So, Lois walked into the Y unsure of what to expect and hoping to find new ways to socialize and exercise. She joined a Silver Splash class, and was excited to find helpful staff willing to help her in and out of the pool, come up with innovative solutions so she could take part in the exercises, and continuously cheer her on. Now many classes later, Lois not only excels in Silver Splash and Aqua Zumba, but completes lap swimming in the pool. She reflects, “It amazes me the movements that I can do in the pool that I cannot do on land. I see small improvements in and out of the water since joining.”
Thanks to the Y’s SilverSneakers program, Lois was able not just to recover, but to thrive.

Financial Assistance

Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At The Y, no child, family or adult is turned away due to an inability to pay.

Financial assistance awards are assessed on a case by case basis during a one-on-one, confidential session with a staff member.
