In 2020, WM gave more than $2 million to scholarship and education improvement organizations across the Commonwealth

Pen Argyl, PA May 1, 2021 – Waste Management presented the Greater Valley YMCA – Forks Township Child Care Center with a $4,000 Pre-K scholarship last week. The scholarship was made available through the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. In 2020, Waste Management provided nearly $25,000 to qualifying organizations around the Lehigh Valley and Slate Belt Region.

“Before the pandemic child care was in huge need throughout the Valley, and the need’s even greater now as about 15% of local child care facilities have shut down. Now more than ever before, our EITC program partners are essential. We’re grateful to Waste Management for helping the Y provide quality, accessible and affordable preschool care to local families,” remarks David Fagerstrom, President/CEO of the Greater Valley YMCA.

“These contributions are helping families across the commonwealth enroll their children in education programs that will advance their skillsets for the future. We are proud to be supporting our youth and the leaders of tomorrow,” stated Senior Community Relations Specialist Adrienne Fors.
